» ETNA

The highest volcano in Europe. Located 3350 m above sea level. There are many craters but two are worth the mention; Red mountain which opened after The 1669 eruption and Silvestri opened after the in 1892 to 2000m above sea level.

In the eastern part of the volcano lies the Valle del Bove, which was formed about 10,000 years ago, this was followed a massive lava flow, this extraordinary force of nature is still possibile to be admired.

Taormina is very interesting from a artistic historical point of view, having preserved different representations of a glorious past: the ancient Greek-Roman Theatre, The Odem, the Old Abbey, the Palace of the Dukes of St. Stephen, the Covaja Palace, the Villa Comunale, Piazza Nove Aprile, the Clock Tower and the famigerat! Corso Umberto framed by the fateful "Porta Messina and Porta Catania" is the heart of the city full of shops, hotels, accommodation and recreational activities.

Today, the Greek-Roman Theatre is used for summer music and cultural shows which includes the famous international film festival.

Isola Bella is a small island located off of Taorminas coast. The island is also known as the Pearl of the Mediterrean and is located within a small bay on the Ionian sea. The name was coined by the German Baron Wilhelm Von Gloeden, who spread the word about the artistic value of the island. In 1990 the island was finally purchased by the Department of Cultural Heritage.

» GOLE DELL'ALCANTARA
